Anita Stöhr Weber

Lives and works in Berlin.
Anita Stöhr Weber makes the material requirements of painting the subject of her art and focuses attention on the interface between the image and the image carrier. In doing so, it elevates the color itself to the status of an object.
Stöhr Weber became known for her so-called “color pieces”, which completely dispense with a picture carrier since they are peeled off again. Held together only with a binder, monochrome pigment layers result in colored skins that are attached to small wireframes in front of the wall. It is the pure color that appears, namely the color as material.
As a result, Stöhr Weber takes her point of view with her art within the field of monochrome painting, which, in addition to the conceptual stringency, also leads to new experiences on the sensual level.
