JAK – Narratage
The title of JAK’s first exhibition at Galerie Michael Sturm Narratage is taken from the vocabulary of the movie industry. It signifies the narration of a story from the point of view of an involved character, in this case, JAK. The term implies what is at stake here – stories, set images, screenshots bundled up in installations, inviting the viewer to plunge into the visualized mind of JAK.
JAK has made appearances through his artworks on several occasions. Since 2013 the focus is on the extensive film project SOUL BLINDNESS. With each exhibition and via diverse medial approaches, like drawing, light, sculpture, painting, photography, installation, JAK continuously pursuits the writing of the screenplay. In every exhibition actions from the script are transformed into works of art.
Following exhibitions in the Wuerttembergischen Kunstverein (Hunting), at the Kuandu Museum of Fine Arts, Taipei (Prologue), at the Villa Merkel, Esslingen and the federal state representation in Brussels (Soul Blindness, fall into indescribable scenes), the exhibition at Galerie Michael Sturm presents mostly recent works on the trail leading to the finished screenplay and finally the movie.
