The works by Kevin Simón Mancera (* 1982, Bogotá) are small-format drawings in which the Colombian artist documents the emotional and social condition of his environment. The drawings have their own power and the potential to enable their own access to the world through the imagery. The message of his drawings, which often combine text and image, is correspondingly powerful and biting: the motifs range from hairy images of men who desperately want to talk about their feelings to a man who shaves his own head on his lap, to explicit ones Sexual practices that end no less in vain. Kevin Simón Mancera’s drawings appear like finger exercises on major social issues: profound, snappy, sarcastic, and yet deeply human.
