Heiri Häfliger

Heiri Häfliger was born in Langnau, Switzerland, in 1969. He initially worked as a surveyor before studying at the University of Applied Arts in Vienna from 1995 to 1999.

Häfliger has been working with the same material since he was a student: paper maché, which he mixes with toilet paper and water. The artist’s sculptures cannot be measured by their size and their splendid variety of materials. At first, it seems more sensible to focus on the simple ratio of fine paper to water, whereby the artist occasionally adds fine, sprinkled color pigments to his paper mache. (June Drevet, 2016)
